Falls
Over 60% of nursing homes residents will fall each year.
Slip and fall accidents in nursing homes happen far too often. Nursing homes have a responsibility to assess a resident’s risk of falls. If a resident is a “fall risk,” nursing homes have a responsibility to make sure that person is never left alone when he or she is outside of her bed. They are required to provide assistance with transfers from the bed to a wheelchair, they’re required to monitor a resident while they use the bathroom and bathe, and they’re required to take precautions in certain circumstances to make sure someone cannot get out of their bed without assistance.
Our Services
Medical Record Review
Medical records contain critical evidence to determine the extent of injuries and damage from a fall. Our experience in hospitals and care homes’ medical records allows us to effectively review the records to find critical information. It is critical to carefully review the cases involving falls but electronic medical records can contain thousands of pages of data.
Let Simaytis Legal Nurse Consulting comb through Electronic Medical Records (EMR) that can contain mountains of documents produced by these systems. Not only do electronic medical records provide more data they provide redundant data and multiple places where notes can be made by medical personnel. If you haven’t worked in the medical industry finding information within the records can be a daunting task as hospitals, long-term care facilities or clinics have different ways to chart or record information including different acronyms and terminology.
Let us help you find the critical information in your case.
Case Screening for Merit
We look at the strengths and weaknesses of your case that has slips and falls in care facilities. If it does not have merit we will provide an oral report or a brief summary of why it does not.
If there is merit, we will identify and recommend potential defendants and the deviations from the standards of care. In addition, we will recommend the appropriate nurse or medical expert to assist in solidifying your case.
Reports are clearly written and concise so that non-medical persons can understand the merits of your case.

Chronology Reports
We can organize your medical records for your slip and fall cases. Records are sorted into the correct categories such as MD progress notes, nurses’ notes, medication records, consults, office visits, etc. Then each section is organized in chronological order by date of incidents within the care facility.
This allows you to have quick access to important information and allows us to spot any missing records which can be vital to a case while there is still time to obtain these documents.
A report will be prepared to highlight the extent of injury, dates, and frequency of treatments, providers of service, and preexisting conditions that were affected or made worse by an injury.
We will assist you to determine the value of each case, whether you are a defense or plaintiff attorney.
